An LED video wall starts with a vision for the finished display. But before the first LED cabinet goes into place, an integrator has to solve something less visible: how to build the frame behind it.
Custom LED video wall frames can be costly, difficult to schedule and slow to deliver. A change in wall size or configuration can introduce more fabrication, more expense and more delays.
We developed StrutWall™ as part of Adaptive’s continuing effort to improve AV installations for the integrators we serve. The idea was straightforward: use readily and locally available channel strut for the frame, then supply the adjustable hardware that brings the system together.
StrutWall is an ingenious way to quickly and accurately install flat, straight video wall frames, in any size, and for most LED cabinets. StrutWall is not intended to build curved video wall frames.
Buy the strut locally
Channel strut is a familiar material for many contractors. It can be purchased locally, often the same day, and cut to the lengths needed for the installation.
StrutWall uses that availability to remove a major complication from the project. Instead of having to wait for a complete custom frame to be fabricated and shipped, the contractor sources the strut locally. That eliminates much of the freight cost and delivery lead time associated with shipping a custom frame.
Adaptive supplies the purpose-built mounting, spacing and alignment hardware.
Using standard channel strut in place of a custom-fabricated frame can significantly reduce material and fabrication labor costs. Combined with the freight savings from sourcing the strut locally, that helps integrators keep the frame’s overall cost under control.
Get the hardware when you need it
StrutWall’s adjustable components are stocked and can ship the same day when needed, subject to order timing and availability.
That gives integrators more control over their installation schedule. Locally sourced strut and stocked hardware reduce dependence on a custom frame’s fabrication cost and delivery schedule.
Fine-tune the fit in three directions
StrutWall’s components provide adjustment along all three axes: X (left-right), Y (up-down), and Z (in-out).
That gives installers control over horizontal position, vertical position and depth as they align the LED cabinets. They are able to fine-tune the fit during installation to bring all the LED cabinets into proper alignment.
Build a frame that can change
A video wall may need to grow. A customer may change the display configuration, move it to another location or expand it in place.
StrutWall components and strut can be reused when a frame is expanded or reconfigured. The contractor can reconfigure the video wall layout and reuse and add to the StrutWall hardware for any new project requirement.
That flexibility makes StrutWall useful beyond the first installation and avoids discarding costly custom frames.
Plan it with the StrutWall Calculator
We also wanted to make planning the frame easier.
The StrutWall Calculator lets you enter the LED cabinet dimensions, number of cabinets wide and tall, and their orientation, then calculates the StrutWall components and strut required. Both full and cut-length strut dimensions are revealed, making purchase planning easy.
Although horizontal strut is usually all that is needed to build a video wall frame, optional vertical strut can be included and planned using the Calculator.
